Ensemble LPR Reimagines Irish Song with Fairouz and Handler

On Feb. 23, (Le) Poisson Rouge's resident Ensemble LPR presented "Follow, Poet," an evening of vocal music from composers Mohammed Fairouz and David Handler, hosted by poet Paul Muldoon. 

The evening included the world premiere of Ensemble LPR director David Handler's Celtic Verseswith the group's harpist, Kristi Shade, and mezzo-soprano Mark Mackenzie, and Evan Rogister leading the ensemble in Mohammed Fairouz's song cycle Audenesque with mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey. Along with Fairouz's ballet Sadat, Deutsche Grammophon recently released Audenesque on record in the ensemble's debut album for the historic German label.
